The MIT Enterprise Forum is an international association of alumni chapters who’s mandate is to help alums turn their ideas into businesses.

Two particularly enterprising board members of the main chapter approached us to design and develop a newsletter for the organization.

Research: Sussing out the conversation

Interviews revealed the need at the heart of the ask. The chapters were operating as silos, all but oblivious to each other’s activities. The newsletter was a small step in a larger plan to foster conversation, share learning, and ultimately leverage the chapter’s association.

Interviews with the project leaders also led to a definition of the subject matter that would be covered. A billionaire in every issue. Established MIT alums. Other innovators at the heart of today’s business conversation. Heady stuff.

Strategy: Influencing the conversation

If the object was to spark community amongst the MITEF chapters and shine a light on them with this endeavour, a newsletter was too narrow a channel. We realized right away that the initiative needed a web site. The content they were creating simply needed to be discoverable.

We designed and built a Wordpress site the team could edit and update on their own.
